EMPI’s stock height shocks for Type 1 models with ball joint front end come painted bright white and are sold individually. This oil-filled shock is 14 1/2″ long in the fully closed position and 18″ at full open. The shock fits 1966 to 1979 Standard Beetle, 1965 to 1974 Karmann Ghia, and 1973 to 1974 Thing models (with ball joint front end). Stock height shocks also fit vehicles with drop spindles, but perform poorly with any more than a 2-3″ drop.
